Q: Can you introduce yourself and tell us about Chap Chap Snacks?
A: Of course! I’m Tetia Bayoro, the founder of Chap Chap Snacks. We are a brand dedicated to making nutritious, delicious, and all-natural snacks easily accessible to busy individuals. Chap Chap Snacks was created with the belief that healthy snacking should be both convenient and enjoyable—without unnecessary additives, preservatives, or artificial ingredients. Our star products include Maple Cashew Nut Butters, Hibiscus Flower Jam, and Coconut Blueberry Dark Chocolate Bars.
Q: What inspired you to start Chap Chap Snacks?
A: Growing up, my brothers and I were fortunate to receive homemade snacks from our mother. This instilled in me a passion for cooking and sharing meals, which played a big role in our family life. During the 2020 pandemic, nostalgia for my country of origin and a strong desire to share the flavors of my childhood with my Canadian family led me to start this business. My sister Sayebehi came up with the name “CHAP CHAP,” which means “quickly” in Nouchi, Ivorian slang—a perfect fit for our brand!
Q: What advice would you give to aspiring entrepreneurs?
A: I have two key pieces of advice:
- Embrace the learning process – Every obstacle is a lesson in disguise. Adapt, grow, and don’t be afraid to ask for help.
- Start small, but start – You don’t need to have everything figured out from day one. Take that first step, test your ideas, and refine them as you go.
Q: What are your future goals for Chap Chap Snacks?
A: We have big plans ahead! Some of our key goals include:
- Increasing our retail presence in more stores across Canada.
- Strengthening our sustainability initiatives.
Q: Any special promotions or upcoming events we should know about?
A: Yes! I’m excited to share that Chap Chap Snacks has been awarded the STACKTx Storefront Grant for March at the Byward Market in Ottawa.
