Period Project Impact Report 2024
2024 Report
Who are we?
The Period Project is an initiative to offer free environmentally friendly menstrual products to the uOttawa community.

Locations
The Period Project now has dispensers active in 10 locations, across the three university campuses, with an additional 3 partnership locations offering menstrual product baskets.

Products
In 2023-24, nearly 25,000 menstrual products were distributed free of cost to the uOttawa community.
- Menstrual pads - 16,881
- Tampons - 7,886

Reusables
Over 100 reusable menstrual products were also distributed. Additionally, a “reusables” event was held in partnership with The Period Purse to raise awareness about reusables.
- Period underwear
- Menstrual cups
- Reusable pads

Dispensers
Two new dispenser models were tested this year. This has helped us determine that non-mechanical dispensers will become our standard moving forward.

2025 Goals
- Introduce a dispenser to the Montpetit building for the use of the sporting facilities
- Have cleaning staff service some dispensers to gather feedback for future servicing of all dispensers
- Test a new dispenser from one more company

Thank you
A huge thank you to the financial sponsors of the Period Project pilot, Student Life and the Student Union of the University of Ottawa (UOSU). And our immense gratitude to all the volunteers who help keep the dispensers stocked!
