Lane swim (25m)

Open to participants of all abilities who are lap swimming. Participants must be 16+ or accompanied by an adult who is 16+. Some swims may run in the shallow end only.

Lane swim (50m)

Open to participants of all abilities who are lap swimming. Participants must be 16+ or accompanied by an adult who is 16+. The pool is converted to a 50m Olympic sized pool for this activity.

Leisure swim

Open to participants of all ages and abilities. The shallow end is set up for lane swim. The deep end has an area for relaxing and an area reserved for using the 3m and 5m diving platforms.

All children 7 years and under must be supervised by an adult.

Women's swim (25m)

This swim period is reserved for women. Sessions take place in the shallow end..

  • All participants 10 and under require a wristband to access swimming.
  • All children 7 years of age and under, regardless of swimming ability, must be directly supervised (within arms’ reach) by a responsible person 16 years of age or older.
  • Children 10 years of age and under who are non-swimmers or who cannot pass the facility swim test must be directly supervised (close proximity and able to render assistance) by a responsible person 16 years of age or older.
  • Children 11 to 15 years of age must be accompanied in the facility by a responsible person 16 years of age or older.
  • Non-swimmers and those who cannot pass the facility swim test must remain in shallow water. Each ratio below indicates the maximum number of children that one responsible person would be able to supervise.

Serious medical conditions

Users of our facilities must ensure they are fit to participate in physical activities. Those with a condition affecting their ability to participate must take appropriate safety precautions for their own safety. Any person with a serious medical condition should be accompanied by an adult knowledgeable of their condition and responsible for their direct supervision.

Patrons using this facility do so at their own risk. The University of Ottawa does not accept responsibility for related risks or injuries.

One-time pass to the pool

If you are not a Sports Services member, you can access the pool by purchasing a one-time pass for only $7.00 (plus taxes). You can buy your day pass at one of the Client Services desk.

Swim Punch Passes

We’re excited to announce that Montpetit Pool now offers Swim Punch Cards. Choose from 5, 10, 15, 20, or 25 swim passes, and use them at your own pace—no expiration date until you’ve used up all your punches! Simply scan your card each time you visit, and enjoy the flexibility of swimming when it best fits your schedule. You can buy your day pass at one of the Client Services desk.

1 month access to the pool

You can buy a 1 month Basic/Aquatic Membership that gives you access to the pool and drop-in activities for only $47.00! For more information, visit our membership page or one of our Client Services desk.

  • Please follow lane directions.
  • If you are passing, remember it is your responsibility to look for an oncoming swimmer.
  • Avoid passing at the end of the lane.
  • If you are resting, please use the corner of the lane.
  • If you are passing most of the other swimmers, it is time to move to a faster lane.
  • If you are being passed by most of the other swimmers, it is time to move to a slower lane.
  • Adjust your swimming lane daily. The speed of a lane varies day-to-day depending on who is swimming.
  • Please do not take it personally if the lifeguard redirects you to another swim lane.  Your safety is our first concern.
  • If you have any questions do not hesitate to ask a lifeguard.
