SOCCER BASEBALL RULES 

GAME FORMAT

1. A game will consist of seven innings and be capped at 50 minutes. No inning will start after 50 minutes.  
2. A mercy rule will be enforced where the game ends if the score between two teams is out of reach. We define the mercy rule as being up by 15 runs after three innings or 10 runs after four. 

RULES OF THE GAME 

1. The defensive team may set in any order the team wishes. There is no set rule for placing defending players, except that they must be behind the foul line (the only exception being catcher). 
2. The offensive team will supply the pitcher.  
3. Each team is required to have a catcher. 
4. All members can kick for their team. A team must keep the same kicking order for the game's duration. 
5. All kicks must occur at or behind home plate; a ball kicked in front of home plate will be a foul. 
6. The batter is allowed three pitches to kick the ball onto the field. 
7. All bunts need to pass the foul line. 
8. The strike zone extends one foot on either side of home plate and is no higher than one foot. 
9. Three balls constitute a walk. 
10. Three swinging strikes (foul ball or a swing and miss) or three called strikes count as an out. 
11. A base runner may not leave the base before the batter contacts the ball. No stealing, lead-offs or courtesy steps will be allowed. 
12. A base runner must avoid contact with a fielder. If the base runner initiates the contact, they will be called out. 
13. If a kicked ball hits the pitcher: The ball is dead, no runners may advance, no runs may be scored, and no outs may be recorded. If the pitcher COULD NOT get out of the way of the ball, the batter has one strike added to their count and may continue at bat. If the pitcher COULD get out of the way OR is intentionally blocking the defence, the batter is declared out, and the pitcher is removed from the pitcher’s mound (but may play another position) for the rest of the game. 
14. A base runner hit by a batted ball is out, even if a fielder does not touch them. 
15. Sliding is permitted if the slide is initiated with the feet first. 
16. Base runners coming from third base must touch home plate to score. To record an out at home plate, the defence must have possession of the ball and touch home plate before the runner touches home plate. Tagging the runner is not necessary.
