Ranking process in the continuous hiring process

Following interviews, employers will select their preferred candidates and submit job offers in the Co-op Navigator. An email will be sent to you when an offer is ready for your action.

Offers to you will be available for two business days. You must meet the deadline indicated for each offer.

To accept a job offer, enter a “1” next to the job on the “Student Ranking” tab in the Co-op Navigator. To decline an offer, enter an “X” on the “Student Ranking” tab. There’s no limit on the number of jobs you can decline. However, be aware of the risk in declining job offers. The co-op job search process is competitive and there’s no guarantee you’ll receive another offer.

If you take no action by the deadline indicated, the offer will no longer be available. To not miss any opportunities, check your emails and the Co-op Navigator every day.

Over the last few terms, there’s been a noticeable change in the job market. Employers are becoming more selective in their hiring and prefer to hire on their own timelines. Many have expressed a desire for a quicker turnaround from posting a job to filling it.

To adapt and simplify the process, and to give you access to the right opportunities at the right time, we’ve shifted to a continuous hiring process focused on actual job offers. You’ll no longer rank all jobs for which you’ve had interviews. Instead, you’ll only need to focus on accepting or declining job offers.

This process is more like full-time recruitment in the broader job market. It also allows us to be more competitive with other institutions.

• Gives you more flexibility — no fixed interview period and the ability to be more selective about which jobs your accept.
