Bicycle on the bike path at Lees campus
The weather is warming up, which means that it’s time to dust off your helmet and pump up those tires. The annual, city-wide Let’s Bike Month in June is just around the corner!

Biking to work is a fantastic way to reduce your carbon footprint while staying active and enjoying the summer weather. By choosing two wheels over four, you’re not only reducing emissions and traffic congestion but also contributing to a healthier environment for all. Plus, let’s not forget the many personal benefits of cycling, including improved cardiovascular health, reduced stress levels, a better mood and increased productivity.

But what if you’re worried about bike infrastructure? Fear not! At uOttawa, our goal is to create sustainable transportation alternatives for everyone. The campus has everything you need for a smooth ride.

Bike parking

There are over 170 bike racks located near buildings for convenient parking. For added security, there are two secure bike enclosures on the main campus (near Montpetit Hall and the Desmarais garage) and one at 200 Lees, providing additional peace of mind.

Bike repairs

Need a quick tune-up or a flat tire fixed? Look no further than our bike repair stations conveniently located around campus. Equipped with essential tools and equipment, they’ll keep you rolling smoothly on your biking journey. And for those who prefer a DIY approach, the Student Union-run Bike Co-op offers resources and support for all your cycling needs.

Other facilities

Unionized full-time staff members have access to the shower facilities at Montpetit, Minto and 200 Lees year-round. For Bike Month in June, access has been extended to all campus staff. Just show your employee ID card at the gym reception desk.
