Frequently asked questions
We will be gradually phasing in the documents we issue via the MyCreds™ platform. At the moment, only transcripts, digital enrolment verification documents and digital duplicate diplomas are issued through MyCreds™.
Log into uoZone. Under the Applications tab, select Purchase Official Documents, select the Digital documents format and follow the steps. For complete instructions, go to the “How to order” section for the document in question on the Transcripts and academics documents page.
First order your digital transcript, digital enrolment verification or digital duplicate diploma through uoZone. Once you receive an email confirmation and log into your MyCreds™ account, select and open your transcript, enrolment verification or duplicate diploma. You’ll need to purchase share credits to share your document. Each share credit allows you to share your document with one recipient, such as an educational institution.
No. You must purchase at least one share credit the very first time you want to view your document but will not be used until you share the document with an organization. You will only need to purchase share credits if the document has been updated and you have no share credits associated with it (i.e., zero share credit balance).
You can share your document as many times as you wish. Each time you share a document, you’ll need to pay to share.
When you first share a document, you’ll receive a notification in the top right-hand corner of your MyCreds™ account to inform you that your share was successful. You can also open your documents to review your share history.
No. MyCreds purchases, including share credits, are final and non-refundable. Your share credit stays in your account until you decide to share your document by selecting the blue “Share” button.
If you’re a current student, the notifications will go to your @uOttawa.ca email account. If you don’t have an active @uOttawa.ca email (for example, you took courses at the University of Ottawa, but didn’t graduate), the notifications will be sent to the email account you enter when completing your order.
Yes. For most documents, you must pay a fee to unlock the document and share it multiple times. The cost to purchase a share credit in MyCredsTM can be found on the transcripts and academic documents page.
Yes. If you need a paper copy of a document, request that option when you log into uoZone to purchase your official documents. These documents will be issued on payment of the appropriate fee per copy requested. For more information, go to the “How to order” section for the document in question on the Transcripts and academics documents page.
If you don’t wish to join the MyCreds™ network, you don’t need to register.
Yes. Documents issued through MyCreds™ are authentic, tamper-evident and legally valid. For example, your digital transcript in your MyCreds™ account contains digital signatures that meet the legal requirements for certified digital documents in countries around the world. This information can only be accessed by you, the University of Ottawa and whoever you choose to share your documents with.
All certified documents carry a digital signature that meets the legal standards set by the European Union for authentic electronic documents, which meet and exceed requirements in Australia, New Zealand and North America.
An authentic document will always have a blue ribbon symbol that validates that it has not been altered after it has been downloaded. If a document has been altered or if the digital signature is not authentic, a symbol with a red cross will signify the document is not valid.
After requesting your digital documents in uoZone, you’ll receive an email confirmation from MyCreds™ to access the document.
To view your digital document, you must purchase an initial share credit. This share credit is not redeemed until you choose to share your document. If you have a balance of zero share credits, you won’t be able to view your document. Any share credits you purchase can then be used when sharing your document with organizations, such as educational institutions or employers.
Yes. When you review your document, you can select Access control, where you can see who has access to it. If you have shared your document in error or wish to disable access to a recipient, you can do so within this window by selecting the disable button.
Please send all enquiries about MyCreds™ by email to InfoService. This includes any questions related to fees, refunds, and how the system operates. We look forward to supporting you.
