Dr John P. Veinot

Biographie

Le Dr Veinot est un pathologiste anatomique et cardiovasculaire qui travaille à L’Hôpital d’Ottawa, au Centre hospitalier pour enfants de l’est de l’Ontario, à l’Université d’Ottawa et à l’Institut de cardiologie de l’Université d’Ottawa depuis 1994. ll est aussi professeur titulaire à la Faculté de médecine et clinicien-chercheur à l’Institut de recherche de l’Hôpital d’Ottawa. Dans la région, il milite pour la prestation de soins de qualité axés sur la patientèle.

xDe 2010 à 2021, il a été directeur du Département de pathologie et médecine de laboratoire à l’Université d’Ottawa, à L’Hôpital d’Ottawa et au Centre hospitalier pour enfants de l’est de l’Ontario, et médecin hygiéniste en chef et directeur scientifique à l’ALREO.

Il a aussi été président de la Society for Cardiovascular Pathology, en plus d’avoir siégé au comité consultatif médical d’Agrément Canada.

Les intérêts de recherche du Dr Veinot portent sur la pathologie anatomique et les maladies cardiovasculaires. Ses activités étaient voilà peu axées sur la rédaction de plusieurs documents de consensus entre la Society of Cardiovascular Pathologists nord-américaine et l’European Association of Cardiovascular Pathologists quant à la formation en pathologie cardiaque, les protocoles de pathologie chirurgicale cardiovasculaire, le recours à la biopsie cardiaque et les protocoles qui y sont associés, ainsi que la classification de l’aortite et des autres maladies aortiques. Il a rédigé plus de 250 manuscrits, plusieurs chapitres d’ouvrage et corédigé un livre sur les corrélations entre l’échocardiographie et la pathologie.

Il a reçu diverses récompenses, dont le Prix d’excellence en éducation d’uOttawa en 2002, le prix d’excellence en enseignement médical de la Faculté de médecine en 2001, le prix de la meilleure enseignante ou du meilleur enseignant en pathologie et médecine de laboratoire en 2000 et en 2010, ainsi que le Prix en éducation – Compétence « communicateur » (volet anglophone) de la Faculté de médecine en 2014.

Le Dr Veinot a effectué ses études de premier cycle à l’Université Acadia, ses études médicales à l’Université Dalhousie et ses stages d’internat à l’hôpital Victoria de London, en Ontario. Il a fait sa résidence en pathologie anatomique à l’Université Queen’s ainsi qu’un fellowship en pathologie cardiovasculaire à la Mayo Clinic.
