Épidémiologie périnatale

Shi Wu Wen est un spécialiste en épidémiologie périnatale. En compagnie du Dr Mark Walker, il a reçu une subvention de la Fondation canadienne pour l’innovation afin d’établir une infrastructure de recherche au Département d’obstétrique et de gynécologie. Ensemble, ils ont formé un groupe d’épidémiologie périnatale reconnu à l’échelle nationale, OMNI (pour Obstetrics and Maternal Newborn Investigations [recherche en obstétrique et sur la santé des mères et des nouveau-nés]). Il s’agit de l’un des principaux sujets de recherche du programme d’épidémiologie clinique.

Les recherches actuelles de monsieur Wen, qui font l’objet de subventions de fonctionnement des IRSC, de PSI et de la Sick Kids Foundation, portent sur les effets de l’acide folique sur la santé et l’utilisation de médicaments sur ordonnance pendant la grossesse. La formation des étudiantes et étudiants de cycle supérieur, des titulaires de diplômes en médecine et des fellows postdoctoraux en santé périnatale passera par la réalisation de projets de recherche supervisés. Pour chaque stagiaire, nous créerons un projet de recherche ciblé et personnalisé qui s’inscrit dans l’étude à grande échelle.
