Wendy Gifford, PhD, RN, (https://wendygifford.ca/) est professeure titulaire à l'École des sciences infirmières de la Faculté des sciences de la santé de l'Université d'Ottawa, titulaire de la chaire de recherche Loyer-DaSilva en soins infirmiers communautaires et en santé publique, et codirectrice du Centre de recherche sur la santé et les soins infirmiers (CRHN : https://www.crssi-crhn.ca/fr/accueil/).

Son programme de recherche porte sur la promotion de l'équité en matière de santé auprès des groupes défavorisés et marginalisés, et plus particulièrement sur la collaboration avec les Premières nations, les Inuits et les Métis pour des soins de santé culturellement sûrs. Elle reconnaît que les soins de santé sont fondés sur le racisme systémique des colons qui continue aujourd'hui à priver les peuples autochtones de leurs droits et à les marginaliser, ce qui lui permet de situer de plus en plus ses recherches dans le cadre de méthodologies et d'approches critiques de décolonisation.

Elle a reçu un financement généreux des Instituts de recherche en santé du Canada (IRSC). Ses projets actuels, financés par les IRSC, sont menés en partenariat avec des communautés autochtones de l'Ontario et du Nunavut et des organisations fournissant des soins de santé aux sans-abri et aux communautés de la rue à Ottawa.

Avant d'entrer dans le monde universitaire, elle a travaillé dans des communautés rurales et éloignées des Premières nations dans le territoire du Yukon. Avant le milieu universitaire, elle a travaillé aux soins intensifs et aux urgences en Colombie-Britannique et comme infirmière en dispensaire dans les collectivités des Premières nations du Yukon.
