Yves Gingras and William R. Shea, historians of science, use the correspondence of Galileo’s protector, the ambassador of the Grand Duke of Tuscany, to paint a portrait of the astronomer. In this lecture, Gingras will discuss the challenges and methods involved in bringing historical figures into the present through their words.
