France, the French and the Jews during the Second World War

We’re honoured to welcome Professor Olivier Wieviorka, a distinguished historian at the École normale supérieure Paris-Saclay, for a guest lecture entitled “France, the French and the Jews during the Second World War.” Professor Wieviorka is an expert in the history of World War II and has recently published Histoire totale de la Seconde Guerre mondiale (Perrin, 2023). He also co-edited Les maîtres de la stratégie (Seuil, 2025) with General Benoît Durieux. In this lecture, Professor Wieviorka will explore the difficult and often painful interactions between France, its non-Jewish populationand the Jewish community during the war.
