The University of Ottawa’s Faculty of Arts reiterates its unwavering support for la Francophonie in all its diversity. We celebrate its presence in our student community, among our staff and faculty, here and abroad. Moreover, the Faculty plays a critical role not only in the promotion of La Francophonie, but also in support of those who are developing knowledge and understanding of the French language and cultures. The Faculty of Arts’ commitment to Franco-Ontarian, Québec and other Francophone communities is undeniable.
Our Francophone students, faculty and staff are at home here. We must denounce comments that undermine La Francophonie with the same ardour as racist and discriminatory comments against other groups or communities; the same goes for comments that question the place of Francophones at the University of Ottawa.
Studies and research on Franco-Ontarian, Québec, French-Canadian and international Francophonies are a common thread that links the past, present and future of our Faculty. We affirm, loud and clear, that the University of Ottawa is an inclusive community that rejects all forms of discrimination and racism. The fight against discrimination and racism must unite, not divide.
