In this video (in French with English subtitles), Ellie Wilson; graduate of the Honours Bachelor of Arts in French as a Second Language (FLS) with a Minor in English speaks about her journey at uOttawa.

Bilingualism is the key to many opportunities, and Ellie took full advantage of the doors they opened for her during her undergraduate studies. By taking linguistic risks and going out of her comfort zone, she was able to immerse herself in the French Language and culture.

Throughout her experience, Ellie acquired many transferable skills that she was able to showcase in her professional, academic, and personal endeavours. In fact, she has been employed as a French Teaching Assistant at the Lyonsgate Montessori School in Hamilton, Ontario.

With the support of her bilingualism and positive attitude, she was able to land a multitude of job opportunities one of them being a Mental Health and Wellness Peer Counsellor at the University’s Mental Health and Wellness Centre. Her experience working in this position was a driving force in her decision to continue her studies doing a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology.

Watch this video to learn more about her academic journey.
