Details
During his time at uOttawa as a visiting researcher invited through the Mobility Research Chair in Urban Sustainability program, Professor Michel Lussault is organizing a detective room. He invites uOttawa community members (students, staff and professors) and urban studies stakeholders, including policy makers and urban planning professionals, to take part in this academic investigation. Professor Lussault has a strong interest in the stories surrounding and describing urbanization, and he has taken this approach to explore urban planning in Canada.
As evidence of the economic, social, and ecological unsustainability of cities continues to mount, this investigation aims to explore cultures of sustainability that could help reshape the ways we think, produce and live urban environments. The objective is to engage the imagination of participants through a simple exercise: answer the three survey questions related to the concepts of urban unsustainability, ecological sustainability and social justice in cities. The goal of this study is to compile a body of scholarly evidence consisting of ideas, discussions, texts and images that professor Lussault will collect during the meetings.
The detective room will be held in SMD 202 every Wednesday from 2p.m. to 5:30p.m. The investigation is expected to become increasingly valuable as the research progresses. The space will present exhibits and be a place of discussion with attendees who contribute to the study. Everyone is welcome to participate!
