Banafsheh Karamifar is a Senior Analyst - Strategic Research and Impact Evaluation at the Teaching and Learning Support Service (TLSS) and the Office of the Vice-Provost Academic Affairs, University of Ottawa. She holds a PhD in Linguistics from University of Paris 10 and a Post-doctoral degree in Media Communication from the University of Ottawa. Banafsheh has taught at different universities in France and in Canada, covering subjects such as French writing, French grammar, phonetics, phonology, syntax, and second language learning as well as Integration of technology in education. Her interdisciplinary research explores meaning-making, female identities, and cross-cultural discourses. She has also led numerous research projects on second language education and the impact of digital tools on education, focusing on "emerging technologies" and "plurality". In her current role, she examines multimodal learning and the intersections of AI with language learning, higher education, adaptive learning, and inclusion. Her research aims to preserve minority cultures and balance technological innovation with community, environmental, and democratic needs. Banafsheh has published and presented her work at national and international conferences.
