Event description
We're pleased to invite you to an open discussion about the realities of those who identify as Francoqueer in schools, universities and beyond. We'll explore ways to self-assess our current practices and share approaches to creating inclusive and supportive environments. We'll also learn more about the resources offered by FrancoQueer, the first association dedicated to French-speaking 2SLGBTQIA+ people in the province.
Resource Specialist
Anne-Sophie Ruest-Paquette
Anne-Sophie Ruest-Paquette (elle/la, accords au féminin, title Mx pronounced Mix) simultaneously completed a doctorate in education at the University of Ottawa and another in social work at Université Laval in the field of inclusion of 2SLGBTQIA+ students. A social justice activist from an early age, this Franco-Ontarian is now responsible for research and the youth program at FrancoQueer, the first and only provincial association dedicated to 2SLGBTQIA+ francophones in Ontario. FrancoQueer recently created a resource kit for the inclusion of 2SLGBTQIA+ people to support organizations in developing more inclusive practices towards affective, sexual and gender diversity, with an intersectional perspective.
Facilitator
Phyllis Dalley
Phyllis Dalley is a full professor and founding director of Chantiers d'actions et de recherches pour des F/francophonies inclusives (CARF/fI). She is a researcher committed to the inclusion of people seeking legitimacy within Canadian F/Francophonies. CARF/fI works to eradicate all forms of racial, linguistic and colonial domination within Canada's French-language school systems. The invitation extended to Mx Ruest-Paquette in conjunction with the ÉDI committee is her first attempt to open a dialogue on the intersection of Black, Francophone, Indigenous and 2SLGBTQIA+ identities.
