2020-2021 Faculty of Education Series of International Symposiums
Description
The University of Ottawa's Faculty of Education (uO) and the Catholic University of Central Africa's Faculty of Philosophy (UCAC) invite you to an international symposium on the social challenges of teaching. Educational contexts in both Ontario and Cameroon are faced with similar shortage issues related to the training and professionalization of teachers and school principals. They are also confronted with issues of linguistic and schooling minoritization. While both educational contexts have much in common, their different realities will be addressed in this initial dialogue. The purpose of this symposium is to reflect, through dialogue, on these similarities and differences, in order to shed light on the 'knowledge of teaching' in context. This symposium lays the groundwork for a Canada-Cameroon collaboration in the field of Education, which is part of a recent Declaration of Comprehensive Cooperation signed by the two institutions in November 2019.
