Geneviève Gauthier holds a doctorate in cognitive psychology from McGill University and worked for over 20 years in faculty development and program evaluation. Her research program focuses on evaluative judgment and practices, learning theories and feedback for complex tasks and performances.
A key aspect of her research aims to understand the evaluative judgment of clinical teachers through the design of assessment tasks, their pedagogical implementation, their judgment process and their feedback to students. She uses methodologies such as case studies, think-aloud protocols, cognitive task analysis and thematic analysis to reveal the components and mechanisms involved in learner interaction and assessment tasks.
