Isabelle Giroux, Ph.D., is a Registered Dietitian (R.D.) and a Professional Home Economist (P.H.Ec.). She is an associate professor and the Assistant Director – Undergraduate Studies of the School of Nutrition Sciences at the Faculty of Health Sciences of the University of Ottawa. She is a leader actively involved in professional affairs as a dietetic educator (since 2000), dietetic program evaluator (since 2008), and member of the Partnership for Dietetic Education and Practice (PDEP, www.pdep.ca) of Canada Accreditation Standards Development Working Group (2012-2014). She has been a member of the PDEP Steering Committee as a dietetic educators’ representative since 2015. She was the Chair of the French Network of Dietitians of Ontario and Canada (2007-2015) and continues to be a member of its board. Professor Giroux is a researcher of the Institut du savoir Montfort and her research program is centered on quality interdisciplinary care for clients and supporting the education of health professionals. Her research focuses on the prevention and management of obesity and diabetes across the lifecycle, including at risk populations. She is a specialist of nutritional assessment and evaluation of cardiometabolic health, as well as the development of effective nutritional education approaches and intervention programs. She also does research about the role of dietitians in care teams and to evaluate the impact of experiential learning on the development of interprofessional competencies.
