Teacher Education - English only

Be a change maker and become a teacher. Dive into one of Canada's top two-year Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) programs.

Led by a diverse team of education leaders, our programs offer progressive concentrations and cohorts to prepare you to build the sustainable communities of tomorrow by teaching in English-language schools, and offering specialized training for Indigenous teachers.

The program leads to certification from the Ontario College of Teachers. This is a license to teach in English language school boards in Ontario and is recognized nationally and internationally.

Program options

Teacher Education (B.Ed.) - English only

The Teacher Education program is a two-year full-time hands-on professional program that prepares candidates to teach in Ontario elementary or secondary schools.

Indigenous Teacher Education

The Faculty offers a three-year community-based Indigenous Teacher Education Program (ITEP) at the Primary/Junior level that leads to the Baccalaureate in Education or the Certificate in Indigenous Teacher Education. The program will start in the fall term 2024, the application process will open starting in the fall term 2023.

Affiliated programs

BA in Second Language Teaching (SLT)

This is an undergraduate program that will prepare you very well for entry into the Bachelor of Education program. Whether you plan to teach French, English or other academic options, in Canada or abroad, you can get a head start by taking this program. It is offered jointly by the Faculty of Arts, through the Official Languages and Bilingualism Institute (OLBI) and the Faculty of Education.

Microprogram in Science Education

If you are interested in a career related to teaching or the design and delivery of educational programming, this microprogram will offer you the opportunity to acquire a strong foundation in Science Education.
