These awards are given on to faculty members and staff who demonstrate the necessary qualities on an annual basis.
Glinski Award for Excellence in Research
The Award for excellence in research is named after Professor George Glinski from the Department of Electrical Engineering. He co-founded Computing Devices of Canada (1948), which grew into one of Canada’s first publicly traded, export-oriented technology companies that produced spin-offs such as Northern Electric (NORTEL), Gandalf Technologies and Leigh Instruments.
Dr. Glinski exemplified the true role of research in engineering by combining discovery and actual delivery of product. He is widely considered to be the father of high-technology in Canada. The George Glinski Award is intended to recognize contributions to research that have earned distinction for the researcher and for the Faculty by offering a creative scholarship in any engineering field.
J.V. Marsh Award for Excellence in Teaching
The award aims to underline the importance of teaching in the Faculty of Engineering by annually recognizing one of its members for outstanding contributions to university teaching.
Award for Excellence in Research Partnerships
The objective of the award is to focus attention on research in the Faculty of Engineering by recognizing annually an individual or a group of researchers who have earned distinction for themselves and for the Faculty through research conducted in partnership with an external organization.
Award for Excellence in Interdisciplinary Research
The objective of the award is to focus attention on research in the Faculty of Engineering by recognizing annually a group of researchers who have earned distinction for themselves and for the Faculty through creative scholarship in interdisciplinary research.
Frank Giacobbi Award for Outstanding Service
The award aims to underline the importance of service excellence in the Faculty of Engineering by recognizing annually a member of its support staff for outstanding contributions to faculty service.
Early Career Researcher Award
The Award is presented annually to a faculty member who has made exceptional contributions to research early in his/her career.
Teaching Innovation Award
The objective of the award is to celebrate innovation in the use of technology for teaching and learning at the university level in the Faculty of Engineering by recognizing annually a member of its teaching staff who has a positive impact on teaching quality and enhancement of student learning.
Teaching Assistant of the Year Award
The objective of the award is to recognize the services and contributions of a graduate student to the undergraduate students in the capacity of a Teaching Assistant in the Faculty of Engineering.
Part-time Professor Award for Excellence in Teaching
The objective of the award is to focus attention on teaching in the Faculty of Engineering by recognizing annually a member of its part-time teaching staff for outstanding contributions to university teaching.
