The U7+ Alliance of Universities created the U7+ Student Challenge in 2022 to allow students to collaborate, research, and propose solutions to a local challenge linked to the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals. This year, the finalists presented their projects at an event hosted by uOttawa’s Faculty of Engineering.

The Maker Jam Challenge is an event combining student innovation and creativity. Nearly 100 students attended this year’s edition on the University of Ottawa campus. The participants, divided into 29 teams, took part in the Game Jam and MakerCon competitions. The atmosphere was intense as the participants displayed their inventiveness.

The Entrepreneurial Concepts Competition is one of many entrepreneurial competitions organized by the Centre for Entrepreneurship and Engineering Design at the Faculty of Engineering. It gives students with entrepreneurial ideas the opportunity to develop business plans and get them off the ground.

Belinda Gilbey (BASc ’14) combined her entrepreneurship and engineering skills to establish BONDI Energy. The company focuses on retrofitting commercial and multi-unit residential buildings with energy efficient heat pumps.
