Specialist High Skills Majors (SHSM)
Our SHSM workshops are specifically designed to align with key industry sectors, including arts and culture, information and communications technology, manufacturing, and transportation. These workshops offer specialized, technology-focused training tailored to students who are interested in pursuing careers in these sectors by equipping them with relevant skills and practical knowledge.

Arduino is an open-source electronics platform based on easy-to-use hardware and software.
Python is a computer programming language often used to build websites and software, automate tasks and conduct data analysis.
VR is a technology that creates a simulated environment, allowing users to feel like they are in a different place or world.
3-D printing allows users to produce complex shapes using less material than traditional manufacturing methods.
A small programmable microcontroller used to teach programming and to create interactive projects.
A programmable robot that gives students the opportunity to learn robotics and programming through creative challenges.
Sphero Blueprint is a modular system of mechanical engineering parts that can be used to teach engineering and robotics concepts to high school students.
Registation details
Registration process for schools
- Select two potential workshop dates. Registrations for workshops are on a first-come, first-served basis.
- Once registration is complete, you will receive an email from Engineering Outreach within one-to-three business days of our receipt of your application. Occasionally, it may take up to five business days for us to contact you. If you do not hear back within a week, please send us an email.
- Once your registration has been processed, we will send you an email with a tentative schedule. You must review it thoroughly then reply by email to either confirm your registration or make changes.
