Biography

Yazan Otoum holds a PhD in electrical and computer engineering from the University of Ottawa. He is currently an assistant professor of cybersecurity at Algoma University (Ontario), following his tenure as a postdoctoral fellow and part-time professor at the University of Ottawa. Dr. Otoum is a licensed professional engineer (P.Eng.) in Ontario and a senior member of IEEE (SMIEEE). His professional certifications include CEH, CHFI and ISO 27001 Lead Implementer.

Yazan Otoum’s  research focuses on the intersection of artificial intelligence of things (AIoT), IoT security and federated learning, combining academic expertise with industry experience. Dr. Otoum has served as a guest editor, peer reviewer and TPC member for prestigious conferences and journals, working with organizations such as IEEE, ACM and Elsevier. He has been recognized for his contributions to cybersecurity education and mentorship.
