Biography

Chantal Rodier has 25 years experience incorporating art and human experience into technology.  Early in her career she guided the development of ground traffic controller systems, rapid prototyping, and business software.  From there her career has grown to incorporate art, technology and human experience into STEAM projects, permanent and temporary public art installations (uOttawa Public Art Policy and program) and large events such as the JUNOS Awards and other creative placemaking ventures.

Chantal teaches courses on design, creativity and innovation that bring students from Arts and STEM together (STEAM) in project-based learning environments. She is responsible for promoting STEAM initiatives at the Faculty of Engineering in collaboration with other faculties, as well as mentoring and coordinating transdisciplinary STEAM projects. She brings STEAM approaches to her roles as research fellow and adjunct curator with Ingenium, a consortium of Canada’s national science museums and as member-researcher of The Canadian Robotics and AI Ethical Design Lab (CRAiEDL.ca).

In her free time, Chantal helps local arts and non-for-profit organizations. She has co-directed a Summer School in Arts and Human Rights on Indigenous Culture in the HRREC
