Biography

Before my appointment at the University of Ottawa, I taught various computer, communications, networking hardware and software design courses at both Carleton University and Algonquin college. Since arriving, I have created most and taught all of uOttawa’s new engineering design courses as well as new courses in Secure Software Design and Embedded Computer System Design.

Before this, I worked for 20 years in design engineering and management in the high-tech industry in Ottawa, Canada. At BNR/Nortel, I designed ASICs, modules, boards, systems and software for wireless (e.g. CDMA) and optical networks (e.g. OC-48 and OC-192). I was an early employee and the Hardware Director for 3 years at Tropic Networks, a metro-area optical networking start-up company. I also consulted for 2 years as an ASIC designer and as a system designer.
