uOttawa-IBM Cyber Range
First of its kind in Canada, the new uOttawa-IBM Cyber Range will allow students to experience a range of fully immersive cyberattack simulations using the most sophisticated technology and software. Be part of the next generation of cybersecurity professionals as we build cybersecurity resilience across Canada.
Tsunami and earthquake simulator
The experimental research flume is the only one in the world with a submerged seismic table to model the effects of undersea earthquakes, a custom-designed wave generator to create tsunami-like waves, and a sediment recirculation system to simulate the erosion and sedimentation processes that alter river and coastal landscapes.

Craft Lab
The Craft Lab, a microbrewing laboratory, is an innovative project that breaks the mould of conventional learning and provides an out-of-the-box, hands-on learning opportunity for students. By combining chemical engineering theory and hands-on entrepreneurship concepts, students create their own craft beer.
Smart Connected Vehicles Innovation Centre
Accelerating autonomous vehicle innovation. Located in its uOttawa Kanata North campus, the Smart Connected Vehicles Innovation Centre is focused on research that problem-solves issues related to the connectivity, physical and cyber security, decision-making, and sustainability of vehicles and networks.

Provides training on traditional mechanical equipment such as lathes, milling machines and saws.
Richard L’Abbé Makerspace
The first uOttawa invent-build-play space featuring 3D Printers, Arduinos, CNC Mills, Handibots, Laser Cutters.
John McEntyre Team Space (JMTS)
Provides pre-competitive teams involved in large-scale projects with the space and infrastructure required to succeed.
Simon Nehme Design Commons
The Simon Nehme Design Commons is a collaborative space, covered with whiteboards, where student teams can pool talent, brainstorm and develop creative ideas.
MakerLab
Provides students with a structured learning experience using technologies available at the Makerspace.
Sandbox
Provides a collaborative space for engineering students involved in small projects, pre-professional competitions and entrepreneurial projects.

Our STEM Complex is an interdisciplinary research and teaching facility designed to foster connections between different faculties, encourage new ways of thinking, enable experiential learning, and promote entrepreneurship. This state-of-the-art facility brings together departments from the faculties of Engineering and Science under the same roof at the University of Ottawa.
