Admission Scholarship — doctorate
We provide an admission scholarship of at least $72,000 for four years.
Admission Scholarships can be awarded to Canadian students, permanent residents, protected persons, members of the diplomatic corps or international students admitted to a doctoral program. You don’t have to apply. The scholarship is offered to students with an admission average 8.0/10 or higher and enrol full-time without interruption for the duration of the scholarship (12 consecutive terms).
This financial support has two components:
- A scholarship of $9,000 per year, paid by the Office of the Vice-Provost, Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies, in payments of $3,000 per term for the first 12 consecutive terms.
- A second component offered by the academic unit in the form of assistantships or internal scholarships of at least $9,000 per year for four years. For details, contact your academic unit.
Note: Students who receive a scholarship from an external source (e.g., CIHR, NSERC, SSHRC, OGS, FRG) still receive the first component of the Admission Scholarship. However, the value of your second component may be reduced by your academic unit or other internal funding source while your external scholarship is valid, based on the Faculty’s decision.
