Explore exciting research opportunities – the Undergraduate Research Opportunity Program (UROP)

Make a meaningful impact through research! The Undergraduate Research Opportunity Program (UROP) allows you to contribute to a research project conducted by a professor of your choice.

Benefits:

  • Apply concepts you’ve learned in class to real situations.
  • Work one-on-one with a professor.
  • Get a close-up view of cutting-edge research at one of the top 10 research-intensive universities in Canada.
  • Receive a scholarship.

Students devote at least 75 hours in an academic year to work on a research project with a faculty member and they receive a scholarship of $1,000. Supervising faculty members receive $500 for their mentorship.

This year, we are asking students and professors to submit research projects that can be submitted on a remote basis, or in person, depending on the supervisor's preference. All that is required is a one-page project summary written by a Professor in collaboration with the student candidate who then includes it with his or her application when he or she completes the series of required steps through the uOZone scholarships portal. This portal opens as of August 1st, 2021. If you are interested in taking part in UROP scholarship program this year, the application deadline is October 15, 2021.
