Word from the dean

There are many reasons to have chosen uOttawa’s law school. This is an outstanding bilingual law school, that is dedicated promoting access to justice in French and English. The robust curriculum and awesome experiential learning program are designed to ensure that you graduate with the knowledge, skills and values essential to practicing law. Our faculty is composed of a wide range of experts, many of whom are renowned leaders in their respective fields, such as law and technology, health law, public law and international law. Our scholars are confronting the most pressing issues of today, positioning our school and our students at the forefront of Canada’s transforming legal systems. Our proximity and excellent relationships with Parliament and the Supreme Court of Canada present incredible opportunities for you to study and experience Canada’s legal systems first-hand.

But beyond all those accolades and accomplishments, I am proud that we are a law school that is deeply committed to social justice.  The law is a helping profession and, as legal professionals, we are in the privileged position to be agents for positive change, to advance equity, access to justice and human rights.

Kristen Boon, Dean of the Common Law Section
