Word from the dean

There are many reasons to have chosen uOttawa’s law school. This is an outstanding bilingual law school, that is dedicated promoting access to justice in French and English. Today, on Franco-Ontarian Day, I am pleased to celebrate Francophones and Francophone culture in Ontario.

The Common Law Section continues to play a critical role in promoting bilingualism within the legal system. As the only law school in Ontario to offer a Common Law degree in French — and one of only a few in the country — we are uniquely aligned to inspire and empower our graduates to ensure access to justice for all in both official languages. In fact, many of our grads have gone on to advocate passionately for French language rights, to provide legal services to French speakers and bring their expertise to prominent French-language institutions and associations.

I want to extend my thanks to all the students who participated in our Orientation activities. I had a wonderful time meeting and conversing with many of you. Photos from the Welcome Ceremony, on the lawn of the Supreme Court of Canada, are available here
