Word from the Dean

At the Common Law Section, we are deeply committed to Indigenous learning, reconciliation and collaboration with Indigenous communities. As a Faculty, we aim to foster an environment where reconciliation is not just a goal, but an integral part of the learning journey for all students. I am proud of our ongoing efforts to ensure that Indigenous perspectives are woven into the fabric of our curriculum and community.

I invite you to learn more about September 30, the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, and the legacy of residential schools in Canada. Visit the website of the National Center for Truth and Reconciliation

The Indigenous Law Students’ Governance (ILSG) is selling orange shirts to support this important day of reflection. These shirts symbolize a collective commitment to acknowledging the history of residential schools and the ongoing impacts of colonization.  Please consider purchasing a shirt on the ILSG website.

Our Spirit Garden, located on the third-floor terrace, is a beautiful space  paricularly during these beautiful late September days. The four sacred medicines are grown in the Spirit Garden: tobacco, sage, sweetgrass and cedar. If you are looking for a quiet place to read, work or collaborate with a classmate, take some time surrounded by traditional remedies in the sunshine on the terrace.

You can learn more about our work at FTX in this article Reconciliation is integral to the learning journey.
