CML3180 W / 3580 H - Eco-Justice Environmental Law Clinic (Winter 2025)
Students will work on environmental problems and cases, on behalf of community and environmental groups, as part of the Environmental Law Clinic. The clinic will be operated in partnership with Ecojustice, the country’s largest public interest environmental law organization. Experienced environmental lawyers will supervise students. Students will be directly involved in various aspects of providing environmental law services to community and non-profit groups, such as: researching potential cases, writing legal memoranda, developing legal strategy, drafting pleadings and other written documents, and assisting with law reform efforts, litigation and other legal matters.

Queen’s Law offers the International Law Programs in May and June 2025. The program is open to uOttawa law students as a Letter of Permission opportunity. Participants will take three upper-year courses in one of the following streams: International Business Law (IBL), Public International Law (PIL), and International Environmental Law (IEL). Interested students are invited to attend a presentation and Q&A with Program Director Gillian Ready on Wednesday, November 20th, at 11:30 a.m. in Fauteux 227.

Exams
It is the responsibility of each student to ensure that the courses selected do not result in class schedule or exam schedule conflicts.

The use of the Examplify software will be possible in selected courses. Please verify the exam timetables to know if your final exam will offer this option.

Microsoft and Apple have announced the upcoming release of new operating systems. ExamSoft is currently testing Examplify’s compatibility with these new operating systems. Exam-takers should not update their devices to the new Windows and Mac operating systems until Examplify’s compatibility with the new versions is announced.

More information about how to register for the use of Examplify will be sent to all students soon.

As of Oct. 31, 2024, at 12:00 p.m. (noon), first-year students in the English JD program will be able to enrol in a thematic course for the Winter 2025 term.

The first-year thematic course is mandatory for all students admitted to the English JD program and allows you to select one course from a variety of interesting options designed to broaden your perspectives on the law. You can use the Course Search Engine to browse the different 1L thematic courses offered for 2024-2025.

Thematic courses are all limited capacity courses; plan to have a second and third choice. Should your first choice of course be unavailable, we recommend you enrol in another thematic course and add your name to the waitlist for your preferred thematic course by using the Waitlist & Swap Function (video tutorial available on the University of Ottawa Enrolment Support web page).

N.B.: Students who are currently in the combined Juris Doctor (JD) / Master of Arts (International Affairs) English program must register in CML 1109 A - Public International Law as their First-Year Thematic Course.

Students who are currently in the regular English JD program and who may wish to pursue the combined Juris Doctor (JD) / Master of Arts (International Affairs) English program should enrol in CML 1109 A - Public International Law as their First-Year Thematic Course.

Modifications of enrolment for first-year thematic courses will be possible until January 31, 2025.
