Daniel Boivin has been teaching evidence law at the Faculty of Law for over 30 years. He also practices law as a partner and member of the Advocacy Group of the Ottawa offices of Gowling WLG. His practice focuses on health law, notably as counsel for the Canadian Medical Protective Association.
He has appeared before the Ontario Superior Court of Justice, Court of Appeal of Ontario, the Federal Court and the Supreme Court of Canada. In addition to evidence law, Daniel Boivin has also taught trial advocacy. He has given lectures as part of several courses, notably on health law, civil litigation and language rights. He also gives presentations on health law, evidence law and advocacy skills to various organizations.

Since the very start of his career, he has been heavily involved in promoting access to justice for Francophone communities outside Quebec. He is a past president of the Association des juristes d'expression française de l’Ontario, of the Canadian Bar Association’s French Speaking Common Law Members Section, and of the Fédération des associations de juristes d’expression française. He serves on the boards of various community organizations, including a Francophone community radio station in Ottawa, the Ottawa Arts Council and the Ottawa Symphony Orchestra. He is also involved in amateur sports. He is a member of the board of Ski Québec Alpin and is a national official in competitive alpine skiing.
