Professor Ratushny has written extensively in the field of Criminal Evidence and his book on Self-Incrimination has been cited frequently by the Supreme Court of Canada. In the field of Administrative Law, he has written, consulted, acted and taught in diverse areas such as Transportation, Environmental, Labour, Competition, Military, Immigration, Refugee and Human Rights Law. He is an expert on the Canadian Judiciary. He was appointed as the first Special Advisor on Judicial Affairs to the Minister of Justice of Canada and currently is consulted by the Canadian Judicial Council in relation to the conduct of judges. In recent years, he has been a guest of the Judiciaries of Ireland and China to speak to their judges on Judicial Conduct issues.
In recent years, he has been more active in the field of Sports and Entertainment Law. In addition to representing professional hockey players, he is a member of the International Court of Arbitration for Sport and the ADR Program for Amateur Sport in Canada as well as teaching a course in Sports and Entertainment Law.
