Biography

Lynn Rockman has been teaching at the Faculty of Law, Common Law Section since the fall of 2010. She teaches several courses in the areas of family law and dispute resolution. Lynn currently teaches Advanced Family Law, Family Law Advocacy, Dispute Resolution in Family Law and Interviewing and Counseling. Lynn has previously taught Introduction to Family Law as well as Dispute Resolution and Professional Responsibility in the first year program.

In 2018, Lynn was appointed as Coordinator, Family Law Program. In this capacity, she coordinates existing Family Law programming within the Faculty and develops a plan to expand opportunities and offerings for our students in family law.

Lynn is also involved in the school’s mooting program. She has been the head coach of our Walsh Negotiation Competition team since the competition’s inception in 2015. She also organizes and runs the BLG Negotiation Competition in the fall.

Lynn has extensive experience in private practice devoted exclusively to family law. She articled and worked as an associate lawyer at what is now Gowlings WLG in Ottawa from 1988 to 1992 and then continued her practice in a local boutique firm until 2012. Lynn had the honour of being selected by her peers for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in Canada (Family Law) for several consecutive years of her practice. Lynn was a lecturer and seminar instructor at the Law Society of Ontario’s Bar Admission course and was a frequent guest speaker at various family law continuing legal education programs.
