Leslie Walden is a part-time professor in the Common Law Program in the Common Law Section of the University of Ottawa’s Faculty of Law, and teaches professionalism and legal ethics. His main area of interest is on professionalism and ethics issues associated with government lawyering.
He is a graduate of the faculty of Common Law at the University of Ottawa and is a member of the Law Society of Ontario (2003).
Leslie completed his articles with the former Federal Prosecution Service and is Legal Counsel with the Department of Justice Canada where he has gained professional experience in a number of legal areas including: administrative, corporate, criminal, human rights, Indigenous, international, labour and employment, regulatory, and professionalism and legal ethics.
Leslie is a past member of the Ethics & Professional Responsibility Sub-Committee of the Canadian Bar Association (CBA), a current member of the Ontario Bar Association, and the Canadian Association for Legal Ethics.
Leslie was the 2022-23 OBA Foundation Chief Justice of Ontario Fellow in Legal Ethics and Professionalism Studies. In March 2024, Leslie delivered the Hugh M. Ketcheson, Q.C. Memorial Lecture titled, “Overlapping Duties of Government Lawyers”, in Regina, SK.
