The Law Practice Program (LPP) offers Canadian law graduates holding a J.D. or equivalent degree a new pathway to becoming a lawyer with the Law Society of Ontario.

About the Law Practice Program

The Law Practice Program (LPP) at the University of Ottawa is an eight-month professional training program that fulfills the experiential training component of the lawyer licensing process, as an alternative to the traditional articling path.

This unique program provides hands-on training in French, covering various areas of law, and includes a placement in a professional setting. Supported by the legal community and immersive learning experiences, the LPP equips future lawyers with the skills to excel in their legal careers.

Accredited by the Law Society of Ontario (LSO) and delivered in collaboration with the University of Ottawa and the Francophone legal community, the LPP is a dynamic program that prepares law graduates to succeed in their legal practice and careers.

The eight months of the LPP feel more like practice than school, fostering the skills and competencies essential to legal professionals.
