Welcome to the University of Ottawa’s Law Practice Program (LPP)! We thank you for choosing this unique, innovative, and practical program.

The LPP is a full-time, eight-month program that consists of four months of intensive practical training within a simulated law firm environment, followed by a four-month work placement in a legal setting.

During the Training Component, you will participate in a variety of activities and training sessions designed to prepare you for the practice of law. In the Placement Component, you will refine and implement your newly acquired practical skills in diverse legal workplaces across the province.

Over the coming months, you will have the opportunity to connect with several members of Ontario’s Francophone legal community who will help you develop your skills, provide quality legal services in French, and become the future leaders of our profession. These legal professionals are eager to welcome you into the profession and support you throughout the Law Society of Ontario (LSO) licensing process.

We encourage you to view the LPP as an opportunity to establish your reputation within the legal community. Every task, every court submission, every memorandum, and every client interview will be a chance to present yourself, demonstrate your skills, and leave a lasting impression on your future colleagues and partners.
