By joining the LPP, not only do you meet the requirements of the licensing process to become a lawyer, but you also begin your journey with a solid foundation of knowledge and practical experience, all within a framework recognized and respected by the legal profession.

Dear Candidate,

Welcome to the University of Ottawa's Legal Practice Program ("LPP")! Thank you for choosing this unique, innovative and practical program.

The LPP is a full-time, eight-month program that includes four months of intensive experiential training in a simulated law firm, followed by a four-month internship in a legal workplace.

During the training component, you'll be provided with a range of activities and training to prepare you for the practice of law.  During the Internship Component, you'll be able to refine and apply your newly acquired practical skills in a variety of legal workplaces throughout the province.

Over the coming months, you'll have the opportunity to meet many members of Ontario's francophone legal community who will help you develop your skills, provide quality legal services in French, and become the future leaders of our profession. Our lawyers want to welcome you to the profession and help you through the process of becoming a member of the Ontario Bar.

We invite you to think of the LPP as an opportunity to build your reputation in the legal community. Every assignment, every brief, every memo, and every client meeting will be an opportunity for you to present yourself, demonstrate your skills, and make a good impression on future partners and colleagues. If you're determined to succeed, we're confident that your hard work will be rewarded throughout your career.

We look forward to seeing you in our next class.
