The LPP bridges the gap between studying law and practicing it, preparing candidates to think and act like lawyers within a simulated law firm environment.

The Law Practice Program (LPP) offers a unique and comprehensive approach to prepare aspiring lawyers to excel in their careers. It consists of two distinct but complementary components.

Training component

Immersive Practical Training (August – December)

Monday to Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (EST) (hours may vary).

Candidates will work both individually and in teams within a simulated law firm environment, where they will be exposed to all aspects of legal practice. Under the guidance of experienced lawyers (“practice mentors”), they will benefit from personalized coaching, feedback, and evaluations.

The program includes practical workshops, interactive lectures, training sessions, integrative projects, and mentorship with recognized experts. These activities enable candidates to deepen their legal knowledge and acquire key skills for legal practice.

This component provides interactive, experiential learning through simulated cases, covering all aspects of the profession via practical modules.

Work placement component

Four-Month Professional Placement (January – April)

Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. (hours vary by placement location).

This component immerses candidates in real-world professional experiences, providing personalized guidance and learning opportunities. Placements occur in legal workplaces such as law firms, legal clinics, unions, non-profits, corporations, administrative tribunals, or government.

Together, these two components ensure a smooth transition from study to legal practice while strengthening the confidence and expertise of future lawyers.
