Alum Ali Tejpar, JD '18
Congratulations to Alum Ali Tejpar, JD '18, who was selected to be the Canadian participant in this year's Munich Young Leaders (MYL) program at the Munich Security Conference, the world's leading forum on international security attended by world leaders and CEOs.

The program is a joint project of Körber-Stiftung and the Munich Security Conference (MSC). Launched in 2009, it is designed to give up-and-coming experts and policymakers from all over the world an international platform to take part in important political debates, strengthen their personal and professional networks, exchange ideas on foreign and security policy with senior decisionmakers, and engage in an intergenerational and interdisciplinary dialogue.

“Being selected is an incredible honour, and I am grateful for the opportunity to represent Canada,” says Tejpar, Chief of Staff to the Foreign and Defense Policy Advisor to the Prime Minister.

“The JD/MA dual-degree program at the University of Ottawa Faculty of Law and the Norman Paterson School of International Affairs at Carleton University provided me with the interdisciplinary legal, analytical, diplomatic, and advocacy skills essential for navigating today’s complex geopolitical landscape. These foundations have been invaluable in my work at the highest levels of government, where law, policy, and international affairs intersect to shape Canada’s global engagement.”

Participants at the program come from a wide range of backgrounds including governments, national and regional parliaments, civil society, academia, think tanks, media and the private sector.

Every year, a new cohort of about 25 outstanding professionals under 40 years of age joins the MYL program to discuss and exchange ideas with high-ranking personalities and key decision-makers at the Munich Security Conference.
