Alumna Vivene Salmon (LLB '09) named among 2020 Top 25 Women of Influence
Congratulations to Vivene Salmon (LLB ’09) for being named one of the 2020 Top 25 Women of Influence by the empowerment organization Women of Influence, which calls her “a legal leader with a notable first.” Not only is Salmon a lawyer and vice-president, country compliance manager of global banking and markets compliance, at Bank of America Merrill Lynch, but she was also named president of the Canadian Bar Association in 2019.

Salmon is the first person of colour to serve as president of the CBA, which represents the interests of over 35,000 members, including lawyers, judges, notaries, law teachers and law students. She is only the second president to come from the in-house counsel community since the CBA’s founding in 1896.

According to Women of Influence, the Top 25 Women of Influence awards “recognize the extraordinary accomplishments of Canada’s diverse women role models. The recipients have all left their mark over the past year: contributing to the greater good through their initiatives; using their influence to drive positive change; or reaching inspiring heights in their career on a global stage.”

Salmon is an active member of the Canadian legal community and involved with many Toronto-based non-profit organizations. The University of Ottawa’s Faculty of Law, Common Law Section, is very proud to have her as one of our alumnae.

Congratulations to Vivene Salmon and her fellow Women of Influence!
