The Biennial Research Report for the Common Law Section, covering the years 2018-2020, is now available online (PDF, 5.12 MB).
This report was produced under conditions unlike any previous such effort. It offers a glimpse of research activities and achievements at the Common Law Section covering the 2018-2019 and 2019-2020 fiscal years, or more precisely, the period from April 1, 2018 to March 31, 2020.
Over that period we welcomed eight new colleagues, while deepening or adding expertise in areas such as administrative law, business and human rights, corporate malfeasance, fertility law, internet law, private law theory, public interest advocacy, taxation, and trans legal issues, among others. This incredible range of research expertise meant that when the global pandemic hit, Common Law scholars were poised to initiate and contribute to ground-breaking research projects and public debate on COVID-19.
The research achievements documented in this report belong to us all—the researchers, the Dean, the administrative staff, the Research Office staff and the leaders of the Research Office, Assistant Dean Cintia Quiroga and Vice-Deans Peter Oliver and Penelope Simons, who guided the Research Office over these two years.
We are all proud of these achievements, and we remain committed to creating and sustaining a rich, collegial, and intellectual environment that provides a crucible for innovative pedagogy and student engagement as much as for cutting-edge research.
Together we have succeeded in creating a culture of research excellence within this Faculty. Congratulations to all of our researchers and all of their supporters!
Happy reading!
