Common Law celebrates more winners in the 2022 CCLA Awards

Following the April alumni news story about six Common Law alumni who would be awarded the 2020 and 2021 County of Carleton Law Association (CCLA) Awards at a gala on June 16, the Common Law Section is pleased to congratulate the recently announced 2022 CCLA award winners, two of whom are alumni and two are professors.
  • Ian Stauffer, LLB ’81, was presented the 2022 Carleton Medal. This award recognizes Stauffer’s significant contributions to the profession of law through great diligence, high ideals and outstanding leadership throughout his career. Stauffer is a partner at Tierney Stauffer LLP, specializing in personal injury, employment law, professional malpractice & estate litigation.                                                                

  • Professor Ted Mann received the 2022 Gordon F. Henderson Award. This award recognizes Mann’s significant contributions, great dedication, and high ideals in service for the betterment of the community. A $1,000 donation will be made by the CCLA, on the winner’s behalf, to a charity of their choice. Mann is a partner at Mann Lawyers and has been an adjunct professor at uOttawa for over 20 years, teaching Bankruptcy and Insolvency. 

  • Professor Erin Durant was presented the 2022 Regional Senior Justice Award.  This award is presented to lawyers who have been in practice ten years or less. It recognizes Durant’s outstanding contributions to the legal profession, as well the community. Durant is the founder of Durant Barristers and is also a part-time professor at uOttawa, teaching Insurance law and Civil Procedure. 

  • Douglas Kelly, LLB ’69, received the 2022 Abe Feinstein Solicitor Award. This award is given to a solicitor who has distinguished themselves throughout their career by exemplary service to the CCLA and to the profession and has shown commitment to the community. Kelly is a partner at Soloway Wright and specializes in environmental law, real estate & development and municipal, land development & expropriation.
