Inclusion of All Poster
Do all members of our research community feel included? Do we protect each other from discrimination or exclusion?

Dr. Steffany Bennett, uOttawa Special Advisor on Diversity and Inclusion, and Full Professor in the Faculty of Medicine, opened the third day of the 4th Autumn School on the Methodology of Research in Law by recounting some of the University of Ottawa’s campus-wide efforts to integrate EDI principles into our research ecosystem.

Dr. Bennett championed the University’s successful application to the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) Dimensions Pilot Program. In this video, she talks about the program’s efforts to assess systemic racism, gender inequality and inequity, transphobia and homophobia, ableism and other discriminatory and harmful practices happening on university campuses. The broader goal is to examine what institutions are doing to address these issues, and facilitate plans to eliminate obstacles and inequities for the benefit of the entire community.

“The idea is to ensure the inclusion of all, but also the lived experiences of all, both those under-represented in scientific research, but also the entire community.”
