In Heenan Blaikie: The Making and Unmaking of a Great Canadian Law Firm (UBC Press), Professor Dodek chronicles the failure of Heenan Blaikie LLP, one of the first truly national law firms in Canada. To tell the full story of the rise and fall of the firm, Professor Dodek conducted interviews with over 180 former Heenan Blaikie employees and more than 40 insiders in the Canadian legal community. The result is a fascinating account of how one of Canada’s most successful businesses quickly and dramatically collapsed.
You can read more about Heenan Blaikie: The Making and Unmaking of a Great Canadian Law Firm in our story from last fall.
Professor Dodek’s other featured book is The Canadian Constitution: Third Edition (Dundurn Press), which serves as a highly accessible guide to the Constitution that any Canadian can read and appreciate, featuring the text of the Constitution Acts, a glossary, a chronology of key constitutional events, a description of significant cases, fun facts, and even photographs.
More information on The Canadian Constitution: Third Edition is available via Dundurn Press.
This year’s Top 100 list also features Ancillary Police Powers in Canada: A Critical Reassessment (UBC Press) authored by John W.
