She represents a wide range of clients, in both English and French, in complex and often high-profile proceedings and across a broad range of industries. Ms. Effendi regularly appears before all levels of federal and provincial courts, administrative tribunals, and commissions of inquiry, and has appeared numerous times before the Supreme Court of Canada. She is a member of the CBA Federal Courts Bench and Bar Liaison Committee, the chair of BLG's Appellate Advocacy Group and serves as past president of the Association des juristes d'expression française de l'Ontario (AJEFO).

Karen Perron, LLB ‘03 is nominated for the Gowling WLG Award for Female Trailblazer of the Year, in Private Practice. Inclusion in this category is based on professional accomplishments, leadership, community involvement, and the extent to which the individual has either passively or actively contributed to gender equality in the legal profession in 2021.

Ms. Perron is also a partner at BLG, and specializes in banking litigation, bankruptcy and insolvency, and directors' and officers' liability. She has appeared before numerous courts in Ontario in a variety of commercial disputes including the Ontario Superior Court of Justice and the Ontario Court of Appeal.
