Graduate Scholarship in Environmental Law and Sustainability

The Fund seeks to promote research on cutting edge issues related to environmental law, regulation and policy in order to provide essential inputs into national and international policy formation and more effective environmental governance.

Purpose of Fund

Financially support graduate students at the University of Ottawa who are doing work in the field of environmental law or policy, including sustainability.

Frequency of the award: Annual (Renewable: Yes, at the discretion of the Selection Committee, provided    that the recipient still meets the eligibility criteria)

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must meet these criteria:

  • be a Canadian citizen, a permanent resident, a person with protected/refugee status or an international student;
  • be admitted or registered as a full-time student in a graduate program at the Faculty of Law of the University of Ottawa;
  • propose a suitable area of study consistent with the Purpose of Fund stated above;
  • demonstrate academic excellence.

 Application Procedure

Applications must be made through Online Scholarships and Bursaries, which can be accessed through the uoZone portal, and should include:

  • the applicant’s Curriculum Vitae on Online Scholarships and Bursaries;
  • two typed letters of support from academic sources;
  •  a letter from the applicant addressed to the Selection Committee and detailing the proposed program of study (research paper or thesis).

The applicant will be advised whether their application is approved or refused via Online Scholarships and Bursaries.
