Purpose of Fund
These scholarships are established with the aim of developing excellence in interdisciplinary research in health law. They are part of the research program "Explorer la mise en œuvre effective des droits des femmes comme mesure de prévention des violences obstétricales et gynécologiques " funded by the Canadian Institutes of Health Research, and co-directed by Professors Audrey Ferron-Parayre ( law, UOttawa) and Sylvie Lévesque (sexology, UQAM), in partnership with Emmanuelle Bernheim (law, UOttawa), Marie-Andrée Girard (doctor and doctor of law) and Marie-Josée Bédard (obstetrician-gynecologist, Collège des médecins du Québec ).
The research program being conducted in French, all candidates must do their research in French.
LL.M. with thesis Scholarships
The master's scholarships aim to complete two research theses related to the objectives of the "Rights and OGV" program. A first project focuses on the knowledge that health professionals have of women's rights in the context of the obstetric and gynecological care they provide.
A second research project focuses on the effective participation of women in the process of developing and drafting health care policies (for example: practice guidelines, protocols, and clinical guidelines).
Value of award: $35,000 each (i.e. $17,500 per year, for two years)

Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must meet these criteria:
- Must be admitted or registered as a full-time student in a LL.M. with thesis program at the Faculty of Law of the University of Ottawa;
- The application must demonstrate excellence.
Application Procedure

- Up-to-date official academic transcripts, or copies of these documents, if they have been already submitted for admission to the University of Ottawa;
- An up-to date curriculum vitae;
- A letter of intent from the candidate addressed to the Selection Committee, including of short description (500 words) of the candidate’s interest in one of the subjects covered by the scholarships.
